After launching with a bang this summer and rapidly becoming one of Leeds’ biggest new food hits, KefiYo is marking its official launch by giving ten people free frozen yoghurt for an entire year.

The colourful Mediterranean-inspired frozen yoghurt café opened its doors on Ash Road in Headingley this summer, next to Leeds Beckett University’s sports campus and moments from the world-famous Headingley Cricket Ground and Leeds rugby ground. It has already built a devoted following among Leeds students, Gen Z food fans, families and frozen yoghurt lovers of all ages.

KefiYo has become a viral smash hit, with customers regularly queuing around the block to create their own bowls and social feeds filling up with colourful, fully loaded KefiYo combinations.

KefiYo’s frozen yoghurt range centres on seven customer favourites: mango, coconut, matcha, natural, passion fruit, strawberry and mixed berry. The café has also introduced vegan froyo, with a different vegan flavour rotating each week so customers can taste their way through the range. The team is now developing an exciting collection of autumn flavours, with the seasonal line-up to be announced soon.

Customers can build every bowl their way with as many standard toppings as they like, all included at no extra charge. Superfoods and selected premium toppings are available for an additional charge. KefiYo is currently offering special introductory launch pricing across its small, medium and large bowls, keeping the experience accessible while allowing every visit to taste completely different.

The brand is also bringing its growing community together away from the counter through local Pilates pop-ups and run clubs, serving matcha and açaí bowls with unlimited standard toppings to participants. The events combine movement, nutrition and community while introducing more people to KefiYo’s wider menu.

Its colourful bowls have also begun appearing across social media, while founder Gagan Chera recently spoke to BBC News about the challenges facing businesses during heatwaves.

Next week, KefiYo will invite Instagram users to share its official competition post for the chance to win. To enter, users will need to follow @kefi.yo on Instagram, repost the competition post and tag a friend. Ten winners will each receive 12 free frozen yoghurts, redeemable as one medium frozen yoghurt every month for a year.

The name KefiYo is inspired by the Greek word ‘kefi’, meaning joy, passion and zest for life – a spirit reflected in the brand’s playful design and uplifting approach to food and community. Its founding team brings together food entrepreneurship with experience in the fitness and nutrition sector, while the wider menu also includes açaí bowls, smoothies, speciality coffees and matcha.

Gagan Chera, co-founder of KefiYo, said: “The response since we opened this summer has been incredible. It took us almost a year to get the café open and perfect the flavour and texture, so seeing queues around the block, brilliant creations all over social media and customers of all ages enjoying KefiYo has made every bit of that work worthwhile.

“This competition is our way of celebrating the official launch, thanking everyone who has already made KefiYo such a hit and giving even more people a reason to come and see what all the fuss is about. We wanted entering to be as simple and social as KefiYo itself: follow us, repost the competition and tag the friend you would bring along. Ten people will then get to make KefiYo a monthly treat for an entire year.”

When the competition launches next week, Instagram users can enter by:
